As the strapline says, this is 100 experiments from the history of science - chosen more for their strangeness than their contribution to mainstream science. The vast majority are behavioural/psychological investigations - some of them already well known, such as the one where members of the public were ready to torture (so they thought) a stranger for the sake of a scientific experiment. There are plenty of less serious ones, such as the problems encountered when trying to get an MRI scan of a couple having sex - to find out what happens to the internal organs while copulation is occuring. This is almost a magazine in book form, and although I read it in a few sittings it would also be good to dip into. The book isn't intellectually demanding, but IS interesting. There is a website accompanying the book, with links to other pages that will help you to look into some of the experiments in more depth (although I haven't used the website much myself).
