Stories of ten disputes in science and maths.

Each chapter in the book tells the story of a notable dispute in the history of science and mathematics - some well known, some less so. It starts with Pope Urban VIII v Galileo and includes other classics (known to me, anyway) such as "Darwin's Bulldog versus Soapy Sam", "Lord Kelvin versus Geologists and Biologists", and "Wegener versus Everybody" A good summary of the disputes I already knew about, and an interesting introduction to some of the ones I hadn't really heard of.
