I do wish publishers wouldn't use these horrible titles. This book is a lightweight, non-technical survey of scientific self-experimentation in many fields, from medicine to aeronautics to deep-sea exploration (the author himself is a marine biologist). As far as I can tell from those areas that fall within my own knowledge, it is accurate, and provides at the end an excellent reading-list for those who want to take the various topics in greater depth. It would make a good addition to a school library, or as a present to a youngster interested in science, as it might well kick-start greater involvement.
