A biography of Leonardo da Vinci

This biography, which looks at Leonardo's scientific writings as much as his art, and gives a good picture of this polymath. As one might expect, he comes across as someone you might not actually want to commission to do a piece of art for you, as he had a tendency to ignore the brief if it suited him, and he also had great difficulty getting things finished (usually because he had too many other things on the go at once). Readable and illuminating.
