SketchPatch Game Development

The aim of the 4 day course was to program a game using existing code from sketches on the sketchPatch website, and compete in a Games Expo for prizes. The workshop introduces creative computer programming, and concepts of collaborative project development using open source tools and programming languages.

Over the course of the week students were taught the principles of computer programming and game development. Using existing graphic programmes on the sketchPatch website students adapted the code to create a game by introducing aims, rules, characters and scoring mechanisms. At the end of the week the teams played each other's games in a 'Game Expo”. Prizes were given for creativity, fun/engagement and usability. Overall winners will be featured as Featured Sketchers on the sketchPatch website.
