    This site includes full text handbooks including diagrams and formulae covering measurement and control technologies.

    Topics covered include infrared detectors, data acquisition, pressure measurement as well as flow and level measurement. The handbooks are available in html and pdf formats.

  • UK Space Agency
    The UK Space Agency was launched in March 2010 as a replacement for the British National Space Centre with the aim of bringing UK civil space activity together within one organisation. the Agency's website describes its activities, provides a learning zone and provides full text publications including the UK Civil Space strategy, annual reports, a magazine and leaflets. News, an events listing and press releases are also available.

    This project site aims to promote effective use of the Internet by the international orthopaedic community by assembling and posting a comprehensive collection of links to orthopaedic sites.

    There are links to areas which include: commercial sites, case discussion sites, disability sites, email lists and archives, international sites, libraries, meetings information, organisations, academic departments, publications, teaching sites, patient education and links to other sites of related interest.

    This site includes powerpoint slide handouts from workshops aimed at teaching engineers to write clear and effective technical communications.

    This site includes short articles explaining machine to machine communication (M2M) and its applications.

    There are links to the company's products and services.

  • Root cause analysis (RCA)
    This site includes a series of full text articles covering the principles of root cause analysis in performance analysis and accident prevention in industry.

    The articles are written mainly from 2005 to 2007 although older articles are also included.

  • Concerted action on brownfield and economic regeneration network (CABERNET )
    This project group site includes a glossary of terms for brownfield rehabilitation and sustainable development is provided and there is also a definition of what a brownfield site is.

    There are case studies of remediation projects as well as project news letters. A map of Europe showing areas of brownfield is available. Different models of brownfield development are described. The site is based at the University of Nottingham.

    This site includes online calculator utilities for civil engineering including snow and wind load calculators and the properties of construction materials.

    There is also a calculator for seismic loading on buildings.

  • NDT validation centre
    This site includes information on a range of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods used in manufacturing and construction industries and assesses their accuracy.

    There are details of services provided by the centre as well as a list of links to related sites.

  • IET knowledge network : transport : road, rail and air
    This site includes a series of full text feature articles covering aspects of road, rail and air transport.

    There is an rss format news feed. Information on the IET Transport Sector Panel which advises on policy issues is provided. Video clips are available.

  • Explosion testing
    This company site includes detailed descriptions of the types of dust explosion and vapour explosion testing offered by the company as well as information on which standards these tests relate to.

    There are slow motion video clips of explosions.

  • Bicycle / pedal power : technology and applications
    This site includes descriptions of a wide range of types of bicycle and tricycle for people of all ages and abilities.

    It also has information on uses such as bicycle powered generators and trailers which can be towed by bikes. There are links to related sites with descriptions of particular aspects of the technologies.

  • European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register
    The European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) is an Europe-wide register that provides key environmental data from industrial facilities in European Union Member States and in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It replaces and improves upon the previous European Pollutant Emission Register (EPER). The new register contains data reported annually by approximately 24,000 industrial facilities covering 65 economic activities across Europe. The Register is compiled by the European Environment Agency. Users can group information by facility, activity, pollutant release and transfer, waste transfer or by country. Detailed data on individual facilities can be found via a map search.

  • Oil and gas UK
    This site includes a knowledge centre with information on the operation of offshore gas and oil platforms as well as about environmental and health and safety issues.

    There is a glossary of technical terms. A database of companies is provided. Press releases and photos are available. There is a free quarterly newsletter which can be downloaded in pdf format. A searchable database of publications is provided as well as a listing of events.

  • Constructii
    This journal site includes contents, abstracts and some full text papers in pdf format covering civil engineering.

    There are issues from 2007 onwards and the journal is published twice a year. Information for authors is available.
